The brain and spine of the patient will have holes on it, similar to sponge
possible cause is intake meat from cows who were affected by the disease
The damage to the brain is caused by a protein called prion
Cows are fed with infected bone meal
Depression
Anxiety
Autism or hallucinations
Abnormal sensation
Muscle stiffness
Lack of coordination
Muscle twitching or stiffness
Dementia or delirium
Death
Handle high risk food with care: spine, brain, eyes, tonsils and intestines of cows, sheep and goat
Restrict meat import from infected area
Forbid to feed the cows with infected bone meal
 
There are no infection case in Hong Kong
The beef imported are from non-infected countries
All the beef imported are proven to be suitable for sell
