Recurrent attacks of a bacterial infection causes Inflammation of the lymphatic vessels. It results in obstruction of the lymph flow.
When the lymphatic obstruction is large enough, back pressure causes in the lymphatic channels proguces dilation of the superficial vessel, resulting in extreme swelling
The commonly affected area are lower limbs
 
 
By mosquitoes
Gross enlargement of a limb or areas of the trunk or head. The skin develops a thickened pebbly apprearance
Blockage of blood circulation cause ulcers and darkened skin
Fever
It can be treated by medication at early stage
Surgery is usually necessary to remove excess skin
In extreme cases, amputation of an entire limb may be necessary
