flow of air in airways
Extrinsic asthma:
allergens irritates the airway, resulting in inflammation of the airways and may produce more mucous. As a result, airway becomes narrowed.
Allergens: dust, pollens or cloth fibers etc.
Intrinsic asthma: cause unknown, usually affects audults
Asthma can be inherited
 
Shortness of breath
Difficulty in breathing
Wheezing
Coughing
Pressure in chest
The insured should satisfied at least three of the following criteria:
History of status asthmaticus within the past 2 years.
Significant and continuous reduction in exercise tolerance
Chest deformities resulting from chronic hyperinflation
The need for oxygen therapy at home as medically prescribed
Continuous daily use of oral corticosteroids for a minimum period of at least 6 consecutive months.
History of status asthmaticus within the past 2 years.
Mainly prevented and treated by medication
